Who we are

MainStreet collects only what it needs to answer shopper questions in a store and show that store how its shelf is doing. We never ask shoppers for their name, email or phone number, and we do not sell personal information.

MainStreet (“we”, “us”) runs atthemainstreet.com and the in-store shopping assistant that opens when a shopper scans a MainStreet QR code. This policy covers three groups: shoppers who use the assistant, retailers who log in to the MainStreet dashboard, and visitors to our website.

Information we collect

Shoppers use the assistant without an account; we tie their chats to a random device ID, not to who they are. Please don't type personal details such as your name, address or health information into the chat.

How we use it

We use this information to run the assistant, improve it, and give retailers insight into their own shop.

  • Answer your questions. Your messages go to an AI model, which uses them along with the store's catalog to reply.
  • Show retailers what shoppers ask. A store's dashboard shows totals and themes from chats in that store, such as common questions and which products were opened. It does not show who you are.
  • Improve MainStreet. We review chats and usage to fix wrong answers and make the assistant better.
  • Keep the service safe. Device IDs and IP addresses let us cap daily use and block abuse.
  • Sign retailers in and show each retailer only their own store's data.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Who we share it with

We share information only with the retailer whose store you visited and with the service providers that run MainStreet for us.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to a buyer if MainStreet is sold or merged.

Retention, security and cookies

We keep chat history and retailer account data while MainStreet is running, unless you ask us to delete it sooner. We remove it when it is no longer needed.

Only our servers can read stored chats, and retailers can see only their own store's data. No system is perfectly secure, but we limit who and what can access your information.

We use these cookies and similar tools:

  • ms_device: a random, signed device ID that links your chats and enforces daily limits. It lasts up to 1 year.
  • Login cookies: keep retailers signed in to the dashboard.
  • Analytics cookies: measure how pages are used.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to access, correct or delete your information at any time by emailing us. Shoppers: because we don't know who you are, tell us the store and roughly when you chatted so we can find the session.

  • Clear cookies in your browser to reset your device ID.
  • Retailers can ask us to close their account and delete their store data.
  • Depending on where you live, such as California or the EU, you may have extra rights. We honor those requests too.

Children

MainStreet is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has used it, contact us and we will delete the data.

Changes to this policy

We will update the date at the top when this policy changes. For big changes, we will let retailers know directly.
